Resistance of 14 genotypes of red and white bean (including: D3, D10, D12, D81083, BRB188, ARS-R93003, Sayad, Daneshkadeh, Sadaf, Dehghan, Kara casehiro, Goynok98, Jules, G-11867) to two-spotted spider mite in laboratory and greenhouse conditions were studied. Lab studies were conducted using leaf disk bioassay with introducing 5 adult female mites on 2 cm diameter leaf disk and recording number of eggs, mite mortality and host damage after 72 hrs. In greenhouse conditions, when plants grew to 2 leaves stage, infestation was done by introducing 5 adult female mites (3-5 days in age) and mite population was studied after 2 weeks. Moreover, host perference and concentration of phenolic compounds were measured. Results indicate that Kara casehiro is the most susceptible, whereas Dehghan and D81083 are the most tolerant genotypes. There was no relationship between concentration of phenolic compounds and resistant to two-spotted spider mite.
