Abstract

Now adays application of medicinal plants in order to bio-control of many plant pathogens has been increased. In this study effects of four medicinal plant (Thymus vulgaris L.Ricinuscommunis L. Mentha pulegium L. Bunium persicum L.) on root-khnot nematode(Meloidogyne javanica)were examined under laboratory and greenhouse conditions on tomato.Identification of the root-knot nematode using perineal pattern, morphological features of J2 and species specific primer were done. In vitro experiment were evaluated on the effecs of essential oil of medicinal plant on mortality of larvaes and hatchingof egg of M. javanica in three time(24, 48 and 72 hour after application) and four concentrations(250, 500, 750, 1000 ppm).In greenhouse experiments, various concentrations of medicinal plants essential oil added and their effect on tomato growth factor and nematode population were studied.Data were subjected to analysis of variance, means were separated according to the LSD test. In vitro studies show 1000 ppmconcentrations of essential oil of R.communis had better larvicidal effect and better larvalemergence inhibition effects. In the greenhouse studies results indicatethat minimum contamination index of tomato root-knot nematode and maximum increase in plant growth related toT. vulgaris. The results of this study show the ability ofmedicinal plants to control of root-knot nematode.
